Cost to Catalyst

How do you shift cyber from budget friction to business acceleration?

"In a world that’s changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks"

Mark Zuckerberg

AI is putting real opportunity on the table. But turning that opportunity into impact doesn’t just sit with the CIO. The CISO has to be involved early, securing not just AI initiatives but the organisation’s broader digital ambitions. And that only works when security is backed with the right investment.

But there’s a disconnect. Despite a steady increase of CISOs now reporting directly to the CEO, 84% of boardrooms still view cyber spend as a cost rather than a business enabler (EY, 2025). The result is sharper funding friction for CISOs than their CIO peers. More time spent justifying investment, and less time enabling the strategy the business wants to move forward with.

When missed time equals lost opportunity, how do you gain alignment with the board faster? And if you’re a CISO, or aspiring to be one, how do you shift security from a cost centre to a growth enabler in the eyes of your peers?

An intimate dinner at
Michelin-starred location

City Social, Tower 42, London / 6:30-9:30PM

Jason Atherton’s handsome restaurant on the 24th floor of Tower 42 is dark and moody, with a subtle art deco twist. It boasts impressive views of the City skyline and the menu offers generous modern European dishes including multiple cuts of Cumbrian beef cooked on the Josper grill, from rib-eye to sirloin. The wine list offers an appealing mixture of prices and styles, and there are noteworthy cocktails too.
